Yastika Bhatia: The Indian women’s cricket team is currently seen playing a multiformat series with Australia. The team won the only test match. Had to face 3-0 defeat in the ODI series. Mumbai Indians had won the trophy in the very first season. The team would like to repeat the same form in the upcoming season also. Mumbai Indians player Yastika Bhatia is very excited to play in the Women’s Premier League. Recently she talked about Women’s League and career.

Yastika Bhatia told about her experience in the last season of Women’s Premier League-

It was memorable, no one had any idea how things would turn out. But the way we were welcomed into the team, we were made to feel like family. We’ll spend a lot of time talking about how we can improve our game. I am really looking forward to the upcoming season of WPL. I can’t wait to wear the Mumbai Indians jersey and get back on the field. Being a part of MI is a completely different feeling.

Talking about the early days of his career, Yastik Bhatia said-

I liked playing sports since childhood. I used to play swimming, karate and badminton. But I never thought that cricket would become my career because while growing up, studies were equally important. One of my neighbors used to play Ranji Trophy. He told my father about a girls’ team practicing in a field near our house. I and my sister went there. However, I was very young then so they took my sister while I had to wait for two years. While I was waiting for my chance, I dreamed of going out on the field and playing with my sister.

This is how Yastika Bhatia managed sports along with studies

Yastika Bhatia told, it was very difficult. The condition was that I could play cricket provided I completed my studies within six months. There was no compromise with studies.

Who was Yastika Bhatia’s role model in the beginning?

In the beginning, I didn’t follow anyone. I just wanted to enjoy batting. Then gradually I started focusing on wicketkeeping also. I used to look up to Adam Gilchrist. He was an Australian wicketkeeper-batsman. Then when Smriti Di debuted, she immediately became my favourite.

How was Yastika’s reaction after being selected in Team India in 2021?

Yastika Bhatia said, everyone was happy. My father and mother were crying. He accepted that my efforts were successful. I was also happy, but at the same time I was also focusing on the fact that I have to help India win the series and then help the team win the World Cup. I realized that my responsibility has increased. Before my debut, Smriti Di had hinted that I can make my debut.

He advised me to play the same way I used to play for Baroda. That series against Australia was good. But by the time I debuted, I started having self-doubt. But at the same time, I was also working on improving my game. I was also talking to Kiran sir about how I can take my game to the next level.
