Mitchell McClenaghan joins MI Emirates coaching staff ahead of ILT20 2024

Mumbai Indians (MI) have appointed their former fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan as their franchise in UAE’s International League T-20 (ILT20). MI Emirates I have been entrusted with important responsibilities.

Mitchell McClenaghan has won the IPL title four times with Mumbai Indians (MI), and will now serve as the coach of the ILT20 franchise of the same team.

Actually, Mitchell McClenaghan has been appointed as the bowling coach of MI Emirates ahead of the upcoming ILT20 2024. This will be McClenaghan’s first major role as a coach. The former New Zealand fast bowler last played professional cricket in the year 2021.

Additionally, McClenaghan represented New Zealand in 48 ODI and 29 T20I matches, taking 82 and 30 wickets respectively. If we talk about IPL, McClenaghan played a total of 56 matches and took 71 wickets with an average of 25 and economy rate of 8.49. Meanwhile, Mitchell McClenaghan will work for MI Emirates under Robin Singh, who was recently appointed as the head coach of the team.

Robin Singh will work with MI Emirates as head coach

Robin Singh was the general manager of MI Emirates in the first season of the ILT20, but has been given the position after Shane Bond left the role of head coach. Shane Bond has left Mumbai Indians to take charge of Paarl Royals in SA20.

Ajay Jadeja, who played the role of mentor to Afghanistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 last year, has been appointed the batting coach of MI Emirates. Vinay Kumar will also continue in the role of MI Emirates assistant coach and James Franklin as fielding coach in the upcoming ILT20 2024.

Meanwhile, MI Emirates recently announced that Nicholas Pooran will be their captain this season, who will return to UAE for the ILT20 after playing a few matches for the Durban Super Giants in the SA20.
