Ranji Trophy 2024: Once again fraud has come to light in Indian cricket; BCCI’s punishment falls on Odisha’s Ranji player

Once again a case of age fraud has come to light in Indian cricket. Actually, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) allegedly accused a cricketer from Odisha, Sumit Sharma (Sumit Sharma) has been banned from playing in any domestic cricket tournament for two years for age fraud.

The BCCI disciplinary committee has taken action against Sumit for making several fake age certificates. According to reports, the certificates that the Odisha cricketer had produced while playing at the junior level in 2015-16 and the certificates he had produced for the senior team were different. Let us tell you, Sumit Sharma is an all-rounder, who is a left-handed batsman and bowls off-break.

BCCI bans Sumi Sharma

The all-rounder was part of the Odisha squad for the Ranji Trophy 2024, which began today, January 5, and reached Vadodara on January 4 to play Odisha’s first match against Baroda. After Sumit Sharma’s cheating, the selection committee of Odisha Cricket Association has included Tarini Sa in its Ranji Trophy squad as his replacement.

OCA secretary Sanjay Behera said in a press statement: “Odisha senior men’s team player Sumit Sharma has been banned by the BCCI from playing in any domestic tournament of the Board for two years after he submitted multiple age certificates Are. “The certificates produced by him while playing at the junior level in 2015-16 are different from the certificates produced for the current season.”

If we talk about the match, then at lunch on the first day, Baroda has scored 92/3 against Odisha. Jyotnil Singh’s 51* kept the Vishnu Solanki-led hosts in the match after their top order failed miserably on the first day. Rajesh Mohanty and Suryakant Pradhan took one wicket each, and now Odisha will look to wrap up Baroda early.
