Hanuma Vihari has given a shock to his team a day before Andhra’s match against Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024. After Vihari’s resignation, star batsman Ricky Bhui, who recently scored a brilliant century, has been appointed as the new captain of Andhra.

Many players reportedly refused to accept this rule, after which Hanuma Vihari left the captaincy, but Ricky Bhui said that he took this decision for personal reasons.

Hanuma Vihari has some personal reasons: Ricky Bhui

Ricky Bhui said in the official statement: “Hanuma Vihari has some personal reasons, hence he has stepped down from the captaincy. He wants to focus on his batting, this is the reason behind his leaving the captaincy. I have been part of the same group for 10 years and have been captain in all formats of the game before, so it is not a big deal. The most important thing for us is that we did not let Bengal win, and after taking the lead in the first innings, we have regained the momentum. Now the important thing is to maintain this momentum. It doesn’t really matter who the captain is.”

Let us tell you, Andhra ended its first match in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024 in a draw against Bengal, and now they face Mumbai from January 12.
