Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) has convicted former captain Sandeep Lamichhane of rape.Sandeep Lamichhane) has been banned, as a result of which he will no longer be able to take part in any national and international match.

In a press release issued by the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) today, January 11, CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand announced that rape convict Sandeep Lamichhane has been dropped from the Nepal cricket team, and will now Will not be able to play cricket for his country in any format of the game – both domestic and international – has been suspended.

Sandeep Lamichhane sentenced to 8 years in prison

Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) has taken this decision after the Kathmandu High Court sentenced the spinner to 8 years in jail after he was found guilty of rape. After the hearing on January 10, the bench of Shishir Raj Dhakal had sentenced Sandeep Lamichhane to 8 years of jail along with compensation and fine.

Earlier, the Kathmandu District Court had convicted Lamichhane in the rape case. But then Sandeep Lamichhane had to go to Zimbabwe to participate in the ICC World Cup Qualifier, due to which the court had extended the hearing time. The spinner was released on bail in January last year after being behind the bars for a few months.

Supreme Court did not support

Lamichhane had also moved the Supreme Court in this matter and demanded that he be allowed to travel to UAE with Nepal cricket team to play ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 match against UAE and Papua New Guinea in late February. Be allowed. But now the decision has come, and CAN has banned them. However, Sandeep Lamichhane had denied the allegation of rape in his statement to the police.
