India announced the squad for the three-match T20 series against Afghanistan and Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have returned to the T20 team after almost two years. Both players played their last match against England in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022.

After this, he did not play in any series, hence speculations started that perhaps the team management is now thinking ahead of him. In Rohit’s absence, Hardik Pandya was given the captaincy and there was talk that he would also be the captain in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

However, after Hardik got injured, Suryakumar Yadav led the Indian team in the last two series. Since now he is also injured, the team management decided to recall Rohit Sharma.

Now recently, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly also supported Rohit as the captain of the team in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Ganguly said that, definitely Rohit should captain in the T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli should also be there. Virat Kohli is a great player, even if he is making a comeback in the T20 team after a long gap, it will not hurt.

Let us tell you that Kohli and Rohit have scored 4008 and 3853 runs respectively in T20I. In the last T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli was in very dangerous form and was the highest run scorer in the tournament. He had scored 296 runs with the help of 4 half-centuries.

The three-match T20 series against Afghanistan will begin from Thursday, January 11 at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. Whereas T-20 World Cup 2024 will start from June 1 in West Indies and America.
